What does reverse osmosis remove?
Dissolved solids — the minerals, salts and metals you can't filter with carbon alone — plus chlorine, taste and odor through the pre-filters. Typical result is a 90%+ drop in TDS at the tap.
Does RO water taste flat?
Bare RO water can. That's why Nick installs systems with an alkaline remineralization stage that adds calcium and magnesium back, so it tastes like clean spring water rather than distilled.
Tank or tankless?
A tankless 800 GPD system gives you a strong, continuous stream with nothing stored under the sink. A conventional tank system costs less and is fine for lighter use. Nick recommends based on how much water your family goes through.
How often do the filters need changing?
Pre-filters every 6–12 months, the membrane every 2–3 years depending on your water. Nick services the system or shows you how — it's a few minutes with quick-connect fittings.
Can you run a line to my fridge?
Yes. A line to the refrigerator and ice maker is a common add-on so ice and the door dispenser get RO water too.
Do I need RO if I have a softener?
A softener makes the whole house soft but doesn't reduce dissolved solids. Most of our customers do both: softener for the house, RO at the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking.
